“Air, water, animals, equipment and people carry fungi long distances and can develop almost over night. Fungi steal nutrients from the plants and turf. Fungus season runs from late fall to spring. St. Augustine grasses are affected by various fungi. They are RUST, LEAF SPOT, PYTHIUM ROOT ROT AND RHIZCOTONIA BROWN PATCH. Symptoms range from patches in the lawn to spots on the blades of grass themselves. Lawns an shrubs that are already stresses are more susceptible. Rhizoctonia will attack and kill Plumbago shrubs quickly. Wet conditions; too much irrigation or rain and long periods of high humidity will set this fungus in motion. As the weather gets cooler, watering should be cut back accordingly. Remember, less water in the shade!

OTHER PEST PROBLEMS
WHITE GRUB WORMS appear in the soil anywhere from the surface to 24 inches down and are most visible in fall and spring. Generally, Grubs feed in the same areas year after year. Chafer Beetles and May and June Bugs lay eggs in the soil. Grubs hatch from the eggs and begin feeding on the grass roots. One to two treatments per year are necessary.
